This event, which has been presented by Ana González, Rafel Hernández and Salvador Moll, will close the program of activities on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Novo Sancti Petri, the best resort in Spain, as a tribute to Jaime Moll.
The first deputy mayor, Ana Gonzalez, the director of the Iberostar Real Novo Sancti Petri, Rafael Hernandez, and the son of the promoter of Novo Sancti Petri Jaime Moll, Salvador Moll, presented the ProAm golf tournament ‘Tribute to Jaime Moll’, to be held this Sunday December 12 at the facilities of the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri. A ceremony which was also attended by the municipal delegate of Tourism, Pepa Vela, and the director of Iberostar Group Operations, Olivia Bonis. This is the last activity that the City of Chiclana launches on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Novo Sancti Petri, which is commemorated this year 2021.
“Thus, with this tournament we put the culmination of the program of activities that we have developed from the City of Chiclana to commemorate the 30th anniversary of a tourism project, which was a before and after for tourism and economic development of Chiclana,” said Ana Gonzalez, who recalled that, “coinciding with the opening of the first hotel in Novo Sancti Petri, the Royal Andalus Golf, in May we held the ceremony of unveiling the plaque commemorating the 30th anniversary in that hotel establishment”.
In addition to the tribute to Jaime Moll, commemorative events in September
In addition, it should be recalled that from the Provincial Council was carried out another commemorative event in September, on the occasion of Tourism Day, at the hotel Vincci Costa Golf, which also opened its doors in 1991. And in this month of November took place the act of recognition to the promoters of the resort, as well as workers who since 1991 continue in their professional work in hotels and companies in Novo Sancti Petri. “Also, golf tournaments have been held, paddle tennis, sailing regattas, act in the Concert Music Festival, and so on… on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Novo Sancti Petri, the best resort in Spain,” he added.
“And this Sunday we close the activities of the 30th anniversary of Novo Sancti Petri with a golf tournament in tribute to Don Jaime Moll, promoter of the resort. Because you could not understand the Novo without Jaime, nor Jaime without the Novo,” said the first deputy mayor, who added that, “at this point, to say that Chiclana has become a tourist reference is something that requires little explanation.
Thus, during the third quarter of the year, that is, between July and September, the province of Cadiz recorded almost 36,700 contracts from the tourism sector, of which 10 percent was in Chiclana.” “And the barometer of the profitability of Spanish tourist destinations, which periodically publishes Exceltur, this summer Chiclana hotels have recorded the highest average revenue per available room in the country, with 145.3 euros, double the average of holiday destinations in Spain,” he stressed.
Finally, Ana Gonzalez has stressed that “these figures are not the result of chance. More than 30 years ago, a group of people, which we could call ‘visionaries’, opted to convert the Novo Sancti Petri in an example of sustainable tourism development and beneficial to our people. And this is where Jaime plays a leading role”.
“In order for the City of Chiclana to develop this ambitious and innovative project, economic investment was needed to make it possible and the Moll family assumed a millionaire investment, with which the Novo Sancti Petri became a reality,” insisted the first deputy mayor, who added that “Novo Sancti Petri, which is one of the economic lungs, not only for Chiclana, but for our entire province, is a legacy of Don Jaime Moll.
In short, Chiclana would not be today what it is without Jaime Moll, nor the figure of Jaime Moll would go down in the history of tourism without Chiclana”. “There will never be enough tribute to recognize the investment that Don Jaime Moll has brought to this town,” he concluded.

Golf culture
For his part, Salvador Moll indicated that “it was very difficult to develop a project like this, which has become one of the best resorts in Spain, if not the best”. “I remember how we came to Andalusia and set up a hotel in Jerez, as well as getting to know the area, which excited us,” recalled Jaime Moll’s son, who added that “at that moment I called my father and my brother and told them it was worthwhile for them to come.
They did and we decided to acquire the land and began to design the project, with a golf course that, after talking to the president of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, was designed by Severiano Ballesteros”.
“We were convinced that we had to add something more than a holiday destination and create a golf culture. And what began with ‘hitting the club’ ended with this great golf course,” said Salvador Moll, who added that “we thought of creating an important golf tournament, for which we went to the United States to meet with the heads of the PGA. Thus, we had the Spanish professional championship and golf began in this area”.
“I am proud that residents and tourists can enjoy this great complex and I am very grateful that they remember us for such an important day as the one we are going to have on the 12th,” he concluded.
Finally, Rafael Hernandez, who has read a letter from the president of the Andalusian Golf Federation, Pablo Mansilla, who has excused his absence at the presentation, thanked the City of Chiclana, Diputación and Iberostar Group for their collaboration “so that on Sunday we can celebrate this tribute to Don Jaime Moll”. “We all have precious dreams, which we are not able to realize, but 30 years ago Don Jaime Moll was able to do it, relying on four pillars of success, private investment, public support of institutions, sustainable construction and design of one of the best golf players in the world, “said the director of the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri.
