The fourth edition of the Challenge de Cádiz starts at the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri, a tournament that takes place this week in the Cadiz town of Chiclana de la Frontera, Andalusia, and that can be the great opportunity to take a giant step towards the DP World Tour.

That’s right, it’s a week with a lot at stake, as 8 of the 10 best players of the season come to Cadiz to win an important title, which can open many doors for them.
This is the case of the number 1 of the Challenge Tour, the Dane Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, who if he wins in Cadiz would make the automatic jump to the DP World Tour in his second season as a professional, because it would be his third victory in only six weeks of play and he is going for it! So he will be a tough opponent this week in Sancti Petri. It would be his step to the DP World Tour, a feat that has only been achieved by one Spaniard, Nacho Elvira, who just won in Belgium and was once a member of the Pro Spain Team of the RFEG.
The number 2, the British John Parry, seeks in the Challenge of Cadiz his return to the Tour, where he already won a tournament. Parry was a great amateur player, and in fact competed in the Walkers Cup teaming up with Rory McIlroy, Danny Willet and David Horsey, and struggles to return to compete with them again. This year he has won in Delhi, and has just signed a 2nd place in Denmark so Cadiz may mean his return to the Tour.
The number 3 is Joel Moscatel, the brand new winner of the Challenge de España, who this year already has four top 10s on the Challenge Tour. Joel is one of the members of the ProSpain Team, and currently the best placed in the ranking that gives him access to the DP World Tour only if he maintains this level of play, and at the end of the season continues among the top of the ranking.
Víctor Pastor, also a member of the ProSpain Team, almost won at the Iberostar Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri the Challenge de España in 2022, where the strong wind prevented him from winning the title and he was in 2nd position, which he has the opportunity to improve this week at the Challenge de Cádiz.
Quite a challenge, given the level of play on the Challenge Tour, where more and more DP World Tour winners are competing (Alvaro Quirós, Gregory Bourdy, Alexander Levy…), but a great opportunity to reach the top of world golf.
ProSpain Team RFEG
The Challenge of Cadiz is one of the opportunities for the members of the Pro Spain Team of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation to compete. In Sancti Petri will play 9 of them: Joel Moscatel, Lucas Vacarisas, Angel Ayora, Víctor García Broto, Alejandro Aguilera, Jorge Maicas, Víctor Pastor, Quim Vidal and Javier Sainz, a representation of the future of Spanish golf.
Being part of Pro Spain, beyond the financial support, opens the doors to play more Challenge Tour tournaments, and expand their chances of reaching the Tour through these invitations that they must take advantage of. But the ProSpain is much more, as they have technical, medical, nutritional, physio, psychological support, and support in all kinds of calendar and travel arrangements to get to the top as Jorge Campillo, Nacho Elvira, Adrián Otaegui, Sebastián García, Adrián Arnáus, Santiago Tarrío, Ángel Hidalgo or Manuel Elvira, among others, who were once members of the Pro Spain, have done.
Tomorrow Wednesday will be held the inaugural ProAm of the Cadiz Challenge where 32 professionals will participate teaming up with 3 amateurs. The competition will start on Thursday, will be four rounds with a cut-off after the second round on Friday, and will end on Sunday, June 9.
The union of the institutions and the collaboration of the companies make possible Challenge de Cádiz, which is sponsored by the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, the Diputación de Cádiz, the Challenge Tour, and the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation, as well as the Consejo Superior de Deportes, the Junta de Andalucía, the two Iberostar Beachfront Resorts, Kyocera (official printing services), Allianz, Mahou San Miguel, Solán de Cabras, AON, Halcón Viajes, Volvo, Titleist, Tag Heuer, Iberdrola, TOA Shoes, Farma Dorsch, Marqués de Arviza, Licor Mediterráneo and Viamed under the organization of JGolf.
