The Board of Directors of the club, and its management, want to advance information on the various works that are being carried out, or will be launched shortly, during the year 2024, as well as general information of interest to all members, which will be expanded at the general meeting of shareholders this year, coinciding the same with the approval of the annual accounts for 2023 and whose date will be published shortly to all members.
First of all, we would like to point out that the club is working on improvement projects in the clubhouse affecting the lounges and interior dining room with a new bar, members’ area and new furniture and decoration, which we expect to be finished by the end of April. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Secondly, the planned actions on golf course safety that affect some holes of the Mar y Pinos course are almost finished and allow us to adapt to the current legislation of the Junta de Andalucía on the improvement of the safety measures of some of our holes.
Lastly, and most importantly, the El Fuerte Hotel Group is starting work on its new hotel on the plot adjacent to our 6th sea hole. The works, also for safety reasons, will affect the 6th hole.
For more than 1 year we have been negotiating with this group, urbanism and environment of Chiclana, on the measures that the Real Club de Golf Novo Sancti Petri must implement for safety of facilities that could affect the hotel and its recreational areas, gardens and swimming pools. Both groups have reached an agreement on a modification of the design of hole 6, adjusting tees, ball drops and entrance to the green, redirecting the hole to the right, as well as the green, increasing safety on the fall of the first and second shot of the game. The design, agreed between the parties, seeks to maintain the spirit of the hole, ensuring its beauty, its sea views and the par and slope of the course.
The hotel works will last approximately 1 year and a half, starting in April 2024. The work on hole 6 will begin in June with an approximate duration of 4.5 months. During this period the hole will be converted into a par 3, changing the Mar y Pinos course to a par 71. The RFEG will measure the provisional hole, giving a slope and a new course card for the duration of the work.
The club makes available to all members information regarding this change, as well as plans of the redesign, on club bulletin boards and on the club’s private Web site.
