The Real Novo Sancti Petri Iberostar Golf Club, in Chiclana de la Frontera (Cádiz), was the scene of an exciting Spanish Men’s Professional Championship 2024, which featured Javier Sainz from Biscay. With a masterful demonstration of talent and resilience, Sainz secured his title after a vibrant duel with the young Joseba Torres, which was decided in the last holes of the tournament.
A worthy outcome of the Spanish Professional Men’s Championship
The tournament, reduced to 54 holes due to weather complications, kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the last putt. Javier Sainz dominated the first thirteen holes with a short game lesson, but the last five became a true exercise in endurance. Torres, a newcomer to the professional ranks, tightened the standings with a series of birdies, forcing Sainz to hold firm on the final holes.
The last shot of the tournament was symbolic of Sainz’s control: an accurate putt on the 18th hole that sealed his victory with a smile and a birdie to remember. This victory represents one of the most important milestones of his career, adding to his previous victories in the Farmfoods Scottish Challenge and the PGA Spain Golf Tour.

The young Guipuzcoan Joseba Torres, a professional since September, impressed with his performance, achieving a shared second place with Juan Salama. Although Torres admitted that it hurts to come so close to victory, he also expressed his determination to use this experience as a learning experience for future tournaments.
